Fiona is a passionate and enthusiastic therapist, focusing on the needs of each individual client and tailoring therapy to the client’s own goals.
She graduated from the London Hospital in 1991. She completed her basic training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and went on to specialise in the treatment of patients with acquired brain injury and progressive neurological conditions.
She has worked in both the acute and rehabilitation settings including a 10 year period at the Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU) at Northwick Park Hospital where Fiona was one of the lead physiotherapists and set up the Outreach Community Programme at the RRU. She has been working in the community for the last 10 years with varied clients including those with complex long term needs and their care teams. Fiona enjoys working to empower and teach the support workers on the specific needs of their clients.
She has a wide knowledge of the Bobath concept having completed both the basic and advanced courses. Fiona has also taught physiotherapy students both at under-graduate and post-graduate level. She follows a problem-solving and goal directed approach to the management and treatment of all patients. She works collaboratively with the rest of the multidisciplinary team and where possible accesses and liaises with local NHS services.
Fiona is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Neurology (ACPIN). Fiona continues to extend her skills and professional development by attending courses and being part of peer group reviews.
