Area of Expertise: Personal Trainer
Tom Nissen graduated with Bsc Hons in Sport and Exercise Science in 2004,including an undergraduate prize in sports psychology for an individual study into the motivational effects of different goal setting approaches.
Over an extensive career in the fitness industry Tom has been master trainer for a large city centre corporate gym, written and taught instructor training modules and for the last seven years focussed on specialised personal training for a range of rehabilitation demands including physical injuries, brain injuries, vestibular issues as well as working alongside psychologists using exercise as part of the treatment for clinical mental health issues.
Tom has extensive experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, working in close connection with physiotherapists, psychologists and occupational therapists and specialises in a ‘people’ based approach to training building the plan around the individual needs and demands of the client to ensure the best route to successful progression.
Tom is a member of BASES (The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences) as well as being Register of Exercise Professionals Level 3.
