Sally de la Fontaine

Area of Expertise: Physiotherapist

Qualifications: MCSP & Registered with the Health Professions Council

Sally de la Fontaine

Sally graduated as a Physiotherapist in 1986 from The Middlesex Hospital, London and started to specialise in neurology in 1989 at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, London.

She has since worked in neurology at St Mary’s Hospital (London), The Wolfson Neurology Unit (London), Unsted Park Rehabilitation Unit (Nr Guildford) and Heatherwood Hospital (Ascot). In 1998 Sally started working for her-self and opened her own purpose built rehabilitation clinic, Milestones, in 2004.

Sally uses a problem-solving approach to the management and treatment of neurological patients and has a special interest in vestibular and acquired brain injury rehabilitation, following the psycho-social model of rehabilitation – the idea that through engagement in physical, psychological and social processes, people can learn to live a life which is not dominated by their disability.

She is involved with clinical teaching and is an active member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Neurology (ACPIN), the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists with an Interest in Vestibular Rehabilitation (ACPIVR), Surrey Acquired Brain Injury Network steering group (SABIN) and Physio First, which represents chartered Physiotherapists in private practice.
